Author Guidelines

1. General Information

SPORTICA: Journal of Sport Science and Physical Education publishes original research articles, reviews, and short communications in the fields of sport science, physical education, exercise, and health.
Manuscripts must be written in English or Indonesian using academic language and must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published works.


2. Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Original Research Articles – Presenting new findings in sport science or physical education.
  • Review Articles – Summarizing and critically analyzing recent developments in relevant fields.
  • Short Communications – Brief reports of new ideas, methods, or preliminary results.

3. Manuscript Structure

Authors are advised to follow the structure below:

Title Page

  • Title (concise and informative, maximum 15 words)
  • Author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Corresponding author’s email address
  • ORCID ID (recommended)

Abstract

  • Written in English and Indonesian (150–250 words each).
  • Should summarize objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Include 3–5 keywords arranged alphabetically.

Main Text

  1. Introduction – Explains background, research gap, objectives, and relevance.
  2. Methods – Describes research design, participants, instruments, data collection, and analysis procedures.
  3. Results – Presents findings clearly, supported by tables and figures.
  4. Discussion – Interprets results in relation to theory and previous research.
  5. Conclusion – States key findings and recommendations for future research.
  6. Acknowledgment (if any) – Mention contributors, funding sources, or institutional support.

References

  • Use APA 7th edition citation style.
  • Minimum of 15 references, with at least 70% from recent journal articles (within the last 5 years).
  • References must be written using reference management tools such as Mendeley or Zotero.

4. Manuscript Formatting

  • Length: 4,000–7,000 words (including tables, figures, and references).
  • Paper size: A4, margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced.
  • Tables and figures must be clearly labeled, numbered consecutively, and placed close to their first mention in the text.
  • All figures must be in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).

5. Submission Procedure

  • Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system (OJS).
  • Authors must ensure that all metadata (title, author names, affiliations, abstract, and keywords) are correctly entered during submission.
  • Submissions via email will not be accepted.

6. Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts will be screened using Turnitin before review.
The maximum allowable similarity index is 30% (excluding references and quotations).
Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned for revision or rejected.


7. Publication Ethics

Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research and publication. Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or redundant publication will result in rejection or retraction. Authors must also disclose any potential conflicts of interest.


8. Open Access Policy

All published articles in SPORTICA are freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction, provided that the original author and source are credited.


9. Review and Publication Process

  1. Initial Screening by the editor for scope, format, and plagiarism.
  2. Double-Blind Peer Review by at least two reviewers.
  3. Revision Stage based on reviewer feedback.
  4. Final Decision by the editorial board.
  5. Copyediting and Layout for accepted manuscripts.
  6. Online Publication in the upcoming issue (May or November).

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant SPORTICA the right of first publication under the CC BY 4.0 License. Authors are allowed to share and reuse their work with proper acknowledgment of its original publication in this journal.
